On January 11, 2026, Jupiter reached opposition — the moment when its orbit brings it closest to Earth. During these nights the gas giant shines brighter and reveals more detail than at any other time of the year.
In this image you can clearly see four tiny points of light: Europa, Ganymede, Io and Callisto — the Galilean moons discovered by Galileo in 1610. They are not just satellites, but entire worlds orbiting the largest planet in our Solar system.
